Facts of Cyclone Tracy

Hey everyone I am back here with the basic facts of Cyclone Tracy. Cyclone Tracy was a tropical cyclone hit Darwin 24th -25th of December 1974. She caused $837 million worth of damage. More than 70% of Darwin’s buildings were destroyed and 80% of Darwin’s houses. Only 6,000 of the 47,000 inhabitants were left with their houses still standing. 30,000 people were required to evacuate their homes to either go to Adelaide, Whyalla, Alice Springs or Sydney. A lot of these people were not able to return home back to Darwin. The lowest pressure that Cyclone Tracy reached was 950mb and her winds reached up to 240km/h. Cyclone Tracy killed 71 white people the figures for the total number of indigenous deaths and never been looked for but as an estimate I would say at least 150 more people died during the cyclone.
